Gowdy Mocks Schiff for Getting the ‘Maximum Sentence’ From the WaPo Amid Ukraine Controversy
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) got slapped with “Four Pinocchios” by The Washington Post — and former Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) has a few words to say about it.
Schiff came into the spotlight surrounding a whistleblower’s complaint about the president’s previous phone call with the Ukrainian president after a report by The New York Times revealed that he received an “early account” of the call, as IJR previously reported. He had “learned about the outlines” of the “concerns” prior to the report being filed, the Times reported.
The complaint was publicly released last week after the House speaker announced a formal impeachment inquiry into the president.
The Post, however, tore apart Schiff’s previous “false claim” that his committee didn’t have contact with the whistleblower prior to the report being filed.
Schiff previously said during a segment on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on September 17: “We have not spoken directly with the whistleblower. We would like to.”
“He earned Four Pinocchios for being disingenuous in his remarks to reporters to obscure his firsthand knowledge of what took place,” the Post wrote. They later conclude:
