The United States has less than 5 percent of the world’s population. But it has almost a quarter of the world’s prisoners.

Indeed, the United States leads the world in producing prisoners, a reflection of a relatively recent and now entirely distinctive American approach to crime and punishment. Americans are locked up for crimes — from writing bad checks to using drugs — that would rarely produce prison sentences in other countries. And in particular they are kept incarcerated far longer than prisoners in other nations.

Criminologists and legal scholars in other industrialized nations say they are mystified and appalled by the number and length of American prison sentences.

The United States has, for instance, 2.3 million criminals behind bars, more than any other nation, according to data maintained by the International Center for Prison Studies at King’s College London.

China, which is four times more populous than the United States, is a distant second, with 1.6 million people in prison. (That number excludes hundreds of thousands of people held in administrative detention, most of them in China’s extrajudicial system of re-education through labor, which often singles out political activists who have not committed crimes.)

The roster reads like an “America’s Most NOT Wanted” list of severely conservative (and disturbed) individuals who have been around too long and wrought too much damage on this country.

In this case the definition to insanity is “picking the same people  over and over and expecting different results.

The Kim Jong-un costumes are outselling Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, that was a hot seller last year.

 

The spooks are cranking up the smoke machines and beginning to fill the room so that anyone with a brain can figure out that these are just neo-cons in costumes trying to stir a scare by throwing out buzz words like “nuclear” and “threat to homeland” to drum up paranoia and less talk about defense budget cuts.

 

If one would take a few minutes (it wouldn’t take much longer) to think about how this would work; North Korea launching a nuclear attack against the U.S., it would be blatantly obvious that it’s an absurd and crazy-making pile of steaming B.S.

 

Think about it. N. Korea is bordered by China on one side and South Korea on the other; both well-armed military powers who in protecting their own self-interests (and lives)  in allowing nukes or anything else to be launched from N Korea at anyone, let alone the U.S. lest we forget that China is our biggest creditor and South Korea is a U.S. military outpost.

 

Neo-cons and the politicians that pander to them hope that no one looks at a map or stops long enough to think about how they might be being played. They just want you to celebrate Halloween early this year.

 Just as Pope Francis is now the “role model” for  a few billion Catholics so is Warren Buffett for a few thousand “billionaires” like these schmucks;  Top six Wells Fargo executives made more than $70 million combined last year. 

These clowns claim that they deserve this absurd compensation from being the smartest and the brightest money can buy. What’s even more absurd is that there are people (usually from the same group of scoundrels) that agree with them. 

Do they really believe that they are better than, or smarter than, or wiser than this guy? Billionaire Warren Buffett’s salary remains unchanged who happens to be the 2^nd richest man in America.

 

Warren Buffett’s total compensation declined 14 percent last year to $423,923 as Berkshire Hathaway spent less on his security, but his salary remained unchanged at $100,000. 

Buffett’s salary for leading Berkshire as chairman and chief executive hasn’t changed in more than 25 years. The $323,923 for security was the only other element of Buffett’s 2012 compensation because the billionaire forgoes typical executive perks.

Mr Prouty needs to be commended for pulling down the curtain and exposing the gang of money grubbers who Republicans pander to and pay $50,000 dollars a plate to have clowns like Romney perform for them.  

 

It goes to show that not everyone smells of the rot of greed and corruption.

He doesn’t make a good “McCarthy” because his comments are more childish than sinister. 90% of it is gibberish and serves to cloud the issue he claims to be addressing. 

 

His bio states he was educated in law and one would assume he actually retained what he heard/learned. Yet he brings up absurd scenarios in 1st, 2nd, and 4th Amendment rights which, on the surface sound sensible  but after a moments thought are silly. 

 

How or why this clown (as well as several others) end up in government and on committees remains a mystery to me. I thought Americans had enough sense to elect people of “sound mind” to represent them.

My pick of the lot are the Walton’s who are superb at this form of debauchery contaminating the country with massive “super” junk yards that are reminiscent of episodes from “The Walking Dead.”

 

In America we call this success;

The Walton family is the richest in the U.S. and heirs to the retail juggernaut Walmart. They collectively claim 0.14 percent of the country’s entire wealth, or to put it another way, they are worth as much as the bottom 41 percent of all Americans combined. Their legacy is a grotesque business model that depends on pushing down wages and sinking living standards for millions of Americans. Rob is chairman of the board of directors of a company that pays its full-time hourly employees an average of $12.50 and has a policy of keeping them part-time so they don’t even earn that. The Waltons are big-time funders of conservative causes, with special emphasis on undermining public education. Jim Walton, who serves as the chairman for the Walton-owned Arvest bank, is particularly active in injecting his family’s ill-gotten gains into politics

Despite being Argentina’s top church official, Bergoglio never lived in the ornate church mansion in Buenos Aires, preferring a simple bed in a downtown room heated by a small stove. For years, he took public transportation around the city and cooked his own meals.

 

I call him FRANCIS THE ROLE MODEL;

 

Maybe all those “prosperity gospel” preachers can take a page from this playbook. They can start by hocking the Rolex and putting the cash back in the basket.

 

Maybe all these “monarchs” that still roam the planet looking for something to do can take off the crowns and robes and go about doing the work of the people they expect subservience from.

 

Maybe all those “Greed is Good” 1% can try a new slogan; “Generosity is Better” and begin to voluntarily share the wealth they acquired from those who created it for them.

 

Maybe? Possibly? Likely?  If nothing else Pope Francis might force those who don’t “walk the talk” to look in the mirror.
